Dynamite's Diary - 30th August 2022

It's been a busy summer vacation so far, which is why I haven't written in here for a while. SO MUCH happened over the past few weeks - some of which was good and some of which was just the usual craziness.

My mates and I are making a FORTUNE on the drinks stand. We've sold out on milkshakes and smoothies on several consecutive days. It's gotten to the point in which I've actually gotten Steve involved too just so we can have more people helping out with making spares (and no, it's nothing to do with wanting to flirt with him more, I swear!). He's had some pretty good ideas himself on the types of drinks we can offer and even suggested some cool mint ones!

It's still a long way to go before getting all the money I need for the room though. After all, it's a hefty sum and I have to pay my mates for their work too. Lottie was complaining about how I was "clearly" giving more money to Steve than the others, but that's not true! Well, okay, maybe I gave him five cents more.

Dad's been getting on super fine. He didn't have any major meltdowns like last year, which is a relief. Apparently, all that's really been happening at work is that Jocelyn's been doing a series for them that she's done in the past. No sign of Marshall's series though. Maybe he's just having a break as well. And is he really going to be hiring Jocelyn as a co-host for his show in the future?

Back to Dad though. Most of the time, we just went to the shooting range with each other to challenge each other. The results were evenly split - he won some rounds and I won the rest. And for a few days, we just drove round Texas for a road trip. It was a pretty good time, checking out the wildlife and all that, apart from the moment in which the car broke down in an area full of rattlesnakes. Don't get me wrong, I love snakes, but not in a situation like this. We had to be super careful fixing the car, since they were all surrounding us. Dad was thinking about shooting some of them, but as I said before, I love snakes, so I was fortunately able to persuade him not to do it.

Otherwise, it was great fun, having barbecues in the moonlight and sleeping under the stars. I'm pretty sure that Dad had a great time himself as he really wanted to do it again once we got back. I had to persuade him that maybe around Christmas, we could do it. Two road trips after another in one month is pretty excessive.

Dad even took me to visit Grandma for a few days. Not ideal, I'm telling you. Her trailer's super cramped and the internet connection is just crap. I could hardly use the internet on my phone and laptop there. Plus, there was the matter of having ghost pepper pie and all of her other bizarre recipes every single day. Oh well, at least I lived (despite my throat still being numb at the moment). And at least Dad had a good time with her.

As for the time spent at Mom's...it was interesting alright. Somehow she set fire to the kitchen area when trying to microwave tacos for dinner one night. I'm amazed that we're still able to live in that apartment for now - it took five hours to put that fire out, as well as thirty thousand buckets of water and five fire extinguishers. Don't ask.

Anyway, school starts again next week, followed by the fighting tournament. It's going to be a busy time then, so I'm glad I got that long break!

P.S. I just realised that I was supposed to do a major history project over the summer, but I'll just have to get it done during the last few days. Hopefully my teacher doesn't mind and I don't get another detention like the one I had last year.

But seriously, what was I even thinking? The inspiration for this came from an exhibition at the Barbican Centre that my dad took me to, whi...
