Dynamite's Diary - 20th November 2021

Rehearsals are still going on for The Christmas Ring. Steve's been throwing his all into it, but I will have to admit this - he may be able to throw a ball, but he cannot throw a note. Sad, but true. Maybe that's why he got the role of comic relief.

Us background design people are still struggling to get the scenery sorted out. It's not that it's super hard or anything, it's that we can't decide on what it should be. Every single other member of the backstage crew (costume department in particular) finished their job about two weeks ago. Now our art teacher Ms. Mardy is getting super antsy at us and demanding that we get things done as soon as possible.

We actually had a discussion about it today over milkshakes. Well, my pals and I did at least. I'll probably tell the others next week.

"I mean, how many trees should there be? Two or three?"

"I was thinking slightly more."

"No way! That would just clutter up the stage! Besides, the drama department only has enough budget to use one background image so it should fit in with every scene in the play."

"Well, as long as it looks pretty, I'm fine with it," said Lottie. "Do whatever the hell you like. I'm only part of the chorus this year, so why should I care?"

So yeah, Lottie was a big help as always. Oh well, I'm sure we'll figure something out eventually.

Kinsey's been making disparaging remarks about the lead actress the whole time. Still going on about how she's "too ugly" for the role and that she has zilch talent whatsoever. Rumor has it that Kinsey's actually planning to sabotage her chances. Probably gonna frame her for cyberbullying or lock her in the changing rooms or throw a bucket of curry on her while she's onstage. She's done that sort of thing before.

As I said last week, I could confront her on the whole issue. But my mates say that one of the teachers will sort it out eventually. Besides, she hasn't done anything to me and my pals yet, so why get directly involved now? It's partly why I prefer not to get involved in school drama.

Ultimately, I'd rather avoid a confrontation with her at school. After that whole business with Mel Crombey, it's easier to not repeat things. That said, it wouldn't hurt to keep a look out so that the play doesn't get sabotaged. Especially since us lot are working on it too.

Now first we need to get that damn background sorted out.
