Today's fight was ROUGH. I guess all that training did pay off after all, and even then I thought I'd never see the light of day again.
I said before that I would be up against a former champion for today's fight, and I thought that I'd prepared myself well enough for it. I'd even brought more explosives on my person into the arena so I could be extra ready. All I needed to do was wait until she came onto the stage and Xtreme signalled for us to start.
They call this girl Terrible Tina. She didn't look the part - she actually looked pretty cute with those blonde ringlets with pink streaks in them and the rainbow sundress and flip-flops. She even smiled at me and wished me good luck before the fight started.
And then I realised why she had that stage name in the first place.
This girl wasn't a former champion for nothing. The moment I tried to land a hit on her, she just smirked and leapt out of the way. And she just kept doing it every time. Even when I threw one of my dynamite sticks at her, she simply kicked it back over to where I was. Nearly blew me out of the arena.
And that was just the first part. When she chose to fight back, she fought back hard. She was landing some swift karate blows onto my ribcage (I'm surprised she didn't shatter it) and my shoulders. I hate to say this but I actually thought I was going to puke as a result.
AND THEN she did some hand gestures and before I knew it, I was being lifted up into the air and then slammed into the ground. Great! Not only was this girl super hard to hit and someone with strong punches, but she also had freaking telekinesis! She slam me into the stage, she slammed me into the sides of the arena, she even sent me flying out of the arena at one point.
I'm pretty sure that my durability was the only reason I was still able to move despite all that. I never knew I had that kind of strength, and I'm actually glad I do.
The fight took so long that my mates were able to sell out ALL of our drinks today, even the spares. I wasn't able to see their reactions due to being thrown about the arena so much, but I may have heard Marlene yelp a bit at one point.
Despite all of the craziness though, I was able to notice one thing. It seemed that every time Tina pulled off that move, she seemed to be getting more exhausted. Eventually she was just standing there panting, not able to do much.
That's when I saw my chance. I got out one of my bombs and threw it. And you better believe it sent her flying into the audience. I waited to see if she crawled out like I did earlier on, but she was apparently still concussed.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! THE CHAMPION HAS BEEN DETHRONED!" Xtreme was yelling the whole time. She sounded both shocked and excited at the same time. "Dynamite makes it through to the next round!"
Gemma was screaming with joy in the audience, as was Lottie. As for Tina, once she eventually came around, she came out and shook my hands whilst congratulating me on a fight well done.
I accepted her responses. And then passed out right away.
It's a good thing that Xtreme has a first-aid room in her arena. The medics were able to bandage me up and give me some painkillers before letting me out. Dad was horrified when he saw me bandaged up when I got home.
"The HELL happened with you?!?!" he was all like, white in the face.
"I told you before, I'm in Xtreme's fighting arena. I just had a rough fight today."
That seemed to calm him down. "Phew! I thought it was something worst!"
And then he gave me chilli con carne with added squirrel for tonight's meal as his own prize for me. Okay, maybe it's not the best prize, but the thought still counts.
Good news though! We're taking a break for summer vacation before continuing with the battles. Xtreme's got a vacation in Barbados that she wants to make the most of, though maybe the beating I got this time round may have played a role in the hiatus too. Well, at least it gives me enough time to heal up properly before going back into the fighting ring. Who knew that making money like this would be this hard?!
