I had my match in Xtreme's arena today. I can't really tell whether the whole thing was a joke or whether I just suffered too many concussions during that fight. It was a wild ride, I can tell you that.
The guy I was facing against was called the Shapeshifter and has been billed as one of the most versatile fighters that Xtreme has ever known. Allegedly, few people have dared to face him and even top fighters are scared of him.
I learnt why today. Sure, he was super polite, bowing to me in his smart suit before the fight started, but he is an absolute BEAST. I was kicking and punching at him as much as I could, and even throwing my explosives at him, but he just tanked all my blows. Meanwhile, he was shooting at me several times with a giant gun that I have to keep jumping out of the way of.
His physical fighting style was something to behold too. He punched kicked me several times in the stomach and chest, and even unleashed a few punches into my face. The last one really blew me backwards and I'm pretty sure I felt my skull crack as I hit the ground.
I was able to heave myself off the ground, but that's when things got weird. The dude pressed a button that just happened to be on his tie and then in a flash...well, apparently, he was now dressed as a giant chicken with a jetpack. I could have laughed, but I could barely get a sound out before he started hovering in the air and shooting me at me with his gun again. Which, apparently, had turned into a submachine gun. I dodged as many as I could given my current status, but one did clip me in the heel and send me tumbling for a bit.
And then as I was trying to regain my footing, he pressed another button on his tie and suddenly ended up dressed as a giant cow. REALLY?! And he had a giant minigun shaped like a cow's udder too. Kinda disgusting if you ask me. I was struggling to roll out of the way of the bullets as he fired them towards me.
He actually went through several forms themed on farm animals. I think a sheep was one of them, complete with bounding grenades. I can barely remember. As I said, I suffered quite a few concussions so I might have just been hallucinating the farm animal theme. By that point, I was not only dizzy, but bleeding down my arms and legs. I'm genuinely amazed I didn't die that day.
Fortunately, I just happened to have one flash grenade left, so I threw that. It didn't hit the guy, but it did send him stumbling backwards from the impact, leaving me enough time to get close to him. And when he tried to fire his gun again in his explosion-induced daze, I simply grabbed it and turned it round as he pressed the button so that it blasted into him instead. He practically went flying out of the ring. That was it. Game over for him as the gong sounded.
I have to admit, he was a pretty good sport about it. Once he was able to get up again, he shook hands with me for a short time and gave me a pat on the back. So clearly I'm doing something right if I'm getting praise like that. Didn't stop me from staggering out of the ring and passing out in the exit corridor. Good thing that the medics are super competent and were able to get me back into good shape five hours later.
As soon as I got back to Mom's place, since I'm staying with her at the moment, she simply shrugged and went back to eating her tacos. Despite the fact I was clearly bandaged up. Erm, excuse me? Rude much?
As for our drink sales, they're dwindling. Guess summer really is over now. It doesn't help that the Carmago sisters Olga and Fernanda set up their own drinks stand for citrus juice recently and they're taking away some of our potential customers. The whole time I was fighting in the ring, only eight people bought our own drinks and five-hundred people bought Olga and Fernanda's citrus juice. We really have a lot of catching up to do.
Well, September's finished now. I guess all we can do is think about what we ought to get up to in October. Halloween preparations and all that. Plus, Dad's planning to take me over to Grandma's house in a week's time in order to have a stay there once again. I might as well prepare for that so that I actually have something to do that doesn't require the connection this time round. As well as train for whatever matchup I have coming up.
