The Death Battle Crew Welcomes In The New Year

Well, it's coming up to the New Year, and I thought I might as well commemorate it with some more Death Battle fan art. This time, the hosts are watching their own private firework display as the clock strikes midnight.

I like to think that Boomstick designed the firework shown here himself and decided to make it a reality, basing it on the Death Battle skull logo. Ringmaster and Wiz probably helped out a bit too, especially when you consider the fact that Ringmaster loves fireworks and explosives himself. It's not perfect - it lacks the same detail that the actual skull has, but Boomstick's efforts still count.

Boomstick is getting rather emotional and teary-eyed here over what he is witnessing. He's cried before when witnessing what he considers to be beautiful moments, the first time being the victory of the Death Battle t-shirt in "Death Battle vs. The World" and the second time being the spectacle that was "Hulk vs. Domesday". I only thought it was natural to replicate moments like those here - plus, I'm a sucker for man tears.

I used the dark filter on my computer on the top image to make it seem more like night, which explains why I had to create the speech bubble on the computer later on. Unfortunately, it still did not do anything to fix the white blotches on Boomstick's face. Maybe I could go for the idea that the brightness of some of the fireworks is causing the effect due to him standing the closest to them. :P

I also gave Boomstick a sparkler to hold, both to reflect his childlike nature and because I always loved using those myself on Bonfire Night. Unfortunately for DUMMI, Boomstick has held it too close to him and he has to suffer the consequences of his poor handling as a result. He's pretty much the only character not in the mood for welcoming in 2023 at this point in time. X)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a happy new year, whether you're a Death Battle fan or not. I'm looking forward to doing more fan art and stories in 2023, and hopefully I can branch out into some new themes as well. Possibly even some new colouring methods. :D
